Sorry, I retract the question.
Upon further examination, I have found that the folder and file access rights can be different in each view for given files which are shared between two views, even if the files are not set to branch on change.
This is an excellent feature, to allow differing folder and file rights to the same files in different projects and views.

: I have a folder which are shared between two views. One view is the intended working view, while the other is a sort of global shared view, which allows us to do global queries on CR's (see my correspondence with Tommie on this page regarding methods of global queries on CR's).
: In any case, I would like to make sure that users check in their files through the working views, not through the global CR view. How can I do this? The access rights regarding check in and check out are per-file and per-folder, so they don't help; if I do it one place, it will happen in the other place, too.
: And the view access rights do not allow limiting of such things.
