Jet Database drivers in use by another application

Problem Description:

This error has been the result of a number of different circumstances. Try starting at the top of the list and work down. Hopefully you will not need to try all the steps.

  1. If you have a memory resident Anti-virus program running, disable this program and retry the installation.

  2. Otherwise, close all applications that use DAO driver files including applications, which use Access database files, such as StarTeam.

If any of the following files are in use or has the attribute set to read only, you receive this error message. (Please note: while the major portion of these files may be in one directory, one or more may be in a different directory. If you continue to have problems, please use a find on each file separately, starting at the bottom of the list on the second try.):

  • VBAJET32.DLL

  • MSJT3032.DLL

  • MSJTER32.DLL

  • MSJINT32.DLL

  • VBAR2232.DLL

  • MSXB3032.DLL

  • MSPX3032.DLL

  • MSTX3032.DLL

  • MSXL3032.DLL

  • MSRD2X32.DLL

  • DAO3032.DLL

If the attribute is set to read only, remove this attribute and retry the installation.

If you use NT:

  1. Log on as Administrator.

  2. Open User Manager. From the Local Group Properties dialog, double click Administrators. Click Add and add the user name.

  3. Logoff and log in as the user.

  4. Install StarTeam.

If you use TCP/IP DHCP, disable DHCP and install StarTeam. After you have completed the installation of StarTeam, enable DHCP.

If you still receive an error, move the following files to a new directory and install StarTeam again:
